Here are some photos of a few of our mohair mecates. The pattern options are
almost unlimited, so there is no way we can show you all possible patterns.
However, maybe these photos will give you an idea of what we can do and may
even spark your imagination, inspiring you to design your own mohair mecate.

Three 5/8" mecates; the two on the outside are
black, cream and gray while the one in the center is plum, lilac and white. The
plum and lilac are two specialty colors that may not always be available. |
|
A nice selection of 11 mecates. The first four ropes
from the left are 1/2" and the rest are 5/8" ropes.
|
|
In this group of four 5/8" mecates, the two
outside ropes are black and white and the two in the middle feature different
patterns using black, honey and white. This is a good example of how the same
colors can be combined in different patterns to give an overall appearance of
being dark and subtle or louder and distinctive.

These four mecates are all 3/8" four strand ropes.
The far left rope is black, dark gray and white. The mecate second from left is
black, dark brown and white. This photo simply does not do justice to the dark
brown. The mecate third from left is medium brown, honey and dark brown and the
mecate on the far right is a striking combination of white and black.

These are four of our 5/8" six strand mecates
featuring browns. The left mecate is honey, medium brown, white and dark brown.
The rope second from the left is honey, white and dark brown. Third from the
left is a very subtle pattern in black, medium brown and dark brown. At far
right is a predominantly white mecate with flecks of dark brown and black.

Four mecates all using medium brown, dark brown, honey
and white. All are 5/8" six strand ropes. At top, dark brown, medium brown
and honey. The mecate second from the top uses all four colors. The third rope
and the one on the bottom both are made with dark brown, medium brown and white.

This mecate was a unique challenge. Our client wanted a
mohair rope, but with a horsehair tassel. This was the result. The mecate is
owned by Mike Kincella of Athol, Idaho. |
|
Two very nice gray 1/2" four strand mecates. The
one on the left is light gray, dark gray and white while the one on the right is
the same colors with just a fleck of black. The little bit of black changes the
entire look of the rope. |
|
Three very different mecates. On the left side is a
5/8" mecate done in dark brown, black and white. In the center is a
1/2" light gray, dark gray and white rope, and on the right is a 3/8"
in honey, dark brown and white. |
|
All of these mecates are 1/2". The two black and
white ones are both striking, but each has its own effect, determined mostly by
personal preference for light or dark colors. Please look closely at the two
honey, white and black ropes. These are the same pattern, but in one I put the
black fleck in the honey strand and did just the opposite in the other mecate. |

A nice selection of 1/2" mecates. Nothing
predictable in this batch. The one on the left is dark brown, honey and black. I
ended up liking this combination better than I thought I would at first. The
mecate second from the left is honey, medium brown and white. I like the effect
of the two speckled strand laying next to each other. The effect is more
striking because I make wider speckles by laying two white threads together and
two medium brown threads side by side. The effect of alternating the individual
threads is shown in the third mecate from the left. The alternating black and
white threads really set off the medium brown. The mecate on the right is honey
and white with a fleck of medium brown.
